Bill Moorhouse

Bill Moorhouse

26th December 1927 – 5th November 2009

For those of you who do not know our ex Group Chairman, Bill (known as Ginger in his army days!) had a very eventfull life.

Unfortunately, Bill passed away recently after a long illness. Our thoughts are with him and his family.

Bill was presented with an engraved tankard at the 25th Anniversary Camp for over 50 years service to Wombourne Scouting, and for all the stories and experience he brings to 3rd Wombourne Scout Group. Bill originally started his Scouting life in the area with 1st Wombourne where he was Scout Leader. In 2000 Bill became Group Chairman. A more detailed story of Bills life will be available here shortly.

Bills many stories are usually centered around Scouting or his days in the Army, where he was quite a sportsman. As an amatuer boxer Bill won the Leyton Cup in 1949. He also won trophies and titles in hockey, football, javelin and shot putt.
